Veritas is Latin for truth. Here at Veritas Australian Shepherds it is the standard we live by. The real nature of the Australian Shepherd is versatility. From the conformation ring to the working herding dog to the fire side companion Aussies can truly do it all.
Located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, our Aussies have the run of our 10 acre farm. Happy well adjusted dogs are primary. Being show or performance dogs comes second.
Veritas Aussies is owned by Sharon McCully Rives, a life long trainer. Sharon is an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and is small animal CPR certified. She spends her days working as a professional trainer within her local community. She is a 2nd generation canine competitor. The passion for the sport of purebred dogs is something shes had since she could walk. While her parents bred and showed Bullmastiffs, she put points on her dog, a Chihuahua named Ruby at the age of four. Veritas began twenty years ago when Sharon purchased her first Australian Shepherd, Hall of Fame EagleRun That Ol Black Magic.
Our focus is producing the best purebred dogs from top winning bloodlines and to continue the sport and heritage of pure and preservation bred dogs. We support purebred dog sports of all types and responsible breeding. We also believe in giving back, and Sharon donates her time as a professional dog trainer to local shelter groups and advocates for Australian Shepherd breed rescue.
Abba Adams is a third generation fancier, her great aunt and uncle bred and showed american cocker spaniels and great danes, her mother has Russell Terriers and her sister has American Staffordshire terriers. She showed as a professional handler for 4 years, including showing our Veritas aussies before retiring to focus on school and her career as a pro gamer.
She worked for top handlers and worked for fun as a part time assistant to a top golden handler for 3 years while finishing school, refining her grooming skills. She solely focuses her weekends to grooming and showing our Aussies.
Abba now owns four Veritas dogs and has co-bred her first aussie litter under the Veritas name. She is also our webmaster!
